Evan's First Movie!!!

November 8, 2012
Evan's First Movie In Theaters Was...

When I saw the commercial for Wreck-It Ralph, I knew that I wanted it to be the first movie for him to see in the theater. It was a super cute movie fit for a little boy. We bought popcorn and snuck in Juicy Juice and toddler snacks for Evan. We weren't quite sure how he would act during his first movie theater experience, so we took him to a showing during the week. There were two other families in the theater so we had great seating. He was extremely well-behaved during the movie, and we didn't disturb the other families watching the movie. He did a lot of oohing and clapping during the movie. Overall, it was a cute little family night out. :)

Break Up with Boring: Breakfast Sushi

I am the kind of mom who is always looking for creative meal ideas for my toddler. For breakfast this morning, we made banana breakfast sushi and peanut butter and jelly sushi. The banana breakfast sushi turned out perfectly. On the other hand, the peanut butter and jelly sushi didn't turn out quite as well with an impatient hungry toddler. I have posted the directions on how to make these below and a picture of how the peanut butter and jelly sushi should have turned out. Evan finished his plate in under 5 minutes!

Breakfast Sushi
Ingredients:
Banana
Peanut Butter
Rice Crispies Cereal

Directions: 1. Spread peanut butter over a whole banana.
2. Dip peanut butter banana in Rice Crispies.
3. Cut banana in to slices.
4. Eat and Enjoy!

 Peanut Butter and Jelly Sushi
Ingredients:
2 slices of honey whole wheat bread
Peanut butter
Jelly

Directions:
1. Removes crusts from bread.  Use a rolling pin or soup can to completely flatten bread.
2. Spread 1 tablespoon peanut butter and 1 tablespoon fruit spread on each slice of bread
 3. Roll each slice into a tight spiral. Cut each spiral into 4 pieces.
4. Serve to toddler and try not to eat it first. ;)

Pampering Yourself On A Budget

Staying at home with a little one can leave even the best of mommies feeling rundown from time to time. Six months ago, I found this amazing website called Half Off Depot. It is a lot like a Groupon or LivingSocial only better! They are always running great deals on health and beauty services. Since my natural hair color is black, I have to get my hair highlighted every 6-8 weeks to keep my blonde. I have paid anywhere from $25 to $54 for full-highlights, cut, blow-dry, and conditioning treatment at really nice salons in South Tampa, Westchase, and Carrollwood. They also offer deals on massage services, pole dancing classes ( for the most adventurous of moms), and spray tans. Right now they are offering 50% off of all the deals on their site!

Made Me Smile

As many of you know, I am addicted to Pinterest. I use it as a source of inspiration for decorating my house, planning fun activities with my cute little toddler, designing a wardrobe, and now for cheering me up on a cloudy day. Last night I saw this and had to pin it! I feel like this quote is exactly what motherhood is all about-unconditional love. I know that no matter how old my son gets, he will always be my little boy. Being a mother is a bit of an unfair relationship. You will always love them more than they could or will ever love you. You are willing to sacrifices that you never thought you would make and stay up long nights worrying about their well-being and happiness. But, there is nothing wrong with that; it is all part of being a mom, and it is well worth it!

Halloween Roll Back

We are having another early morning in our house. It is 8:00 am, and we have already been up an hour and a half. So while he is sitting on the couch eating Cheerios and watching Mickey Mouse Club House in his Mickey underwear, I decided to dedicate a post to Evan's first Halloween. I can't believe he has grown so much in a year! Last Halloween Evan was 7 months old, and we took home much better candy than we did this year. I am a little bummed-not even ONE Hershey's Cookies N' Cream bar!

This picture of him is priceless. He hate the strap part of his bear hat so much!
Where is my candy momma?

Trick or Treat

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. I love the scary movies, haunted houses, trick or treating, and getting to wear something over the top that I probably wouldn't wear on any day other than on Halloween. Now I am fortunate enough to have a little one with a matching costume. Last year I was Goldilocks, and he was my baby bear. This year I decided to dress up as Red Riding Hood and dressed him as the scary ( or should I say cute) Big Bad Wolf.
I was happy that we were able to get a few really cute family photos this year. I really wanted Chad to dress up as the Woodcutter who saved Red Riding Hood from the Big Bad Wolf, but he refused.

I was so happy that Evan was finally old enough to go door to door to ask for candy. He had a lot of fun walking around the neighborhood trick or treating. Instead of saying "trick or treat", he said " hi treat". He took home more candy than most of the children in our group. We all know the candy at that age is more for the parents than the children.

Halloween Photo Shoot Cuteness

Last year my brother and his family had a cute family zombie photo shoot for Halloween so this year I decided to take him to get pictures done. They didn't turn out half bad considering he was extremely irritable from refusing to nap all day. He kept pulling out Christmas props and dragging them into the shoot!!! We also got a few cute ones of us together. Since I dressed up as Red Riding Hood, I really wanted to get a picture of me standing by him scared of the Big Bad Wolf, but he wasn't having it.

Happy little boy in his monster underwear

Can't bottle this cuteness
I am happy to report that our 18 month old is almost completely potty trained! He has a few accidents here and there, but I am so happy that we are saving money on buying diapers. I was excited when I finally went underwear shopping for him for the first time. I think I may have spent 30 minutes trying to decide between Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, superhero, and Cars themed underwear. He is growing up so fast! I am so lucky to have him. I have baby fever really badly right now, and hopefully in the next year we will have some good news to report!  :)

Loving the Fall weather

It is finally Fall in Florida, and I am so excited to start pulling out my winter clothes. This is an outfit I put together today. I picked up the hat from Target for $5, the dress at H&M for $6, and I have had the boots and leggings for a couple of years. Now I am just wishing my imaginary Pinterest closet was real, and I would be all set for Fall and Winter!
